Peter’s expertise is in athletics and the administrative and management issues facing higher education institutions. He is currently Dean at Florida Coastal School of Law.
Peter has experience with coaches’ contracts, athlete eligibility issues, and collegiate athletic compliance matters. He has served on search committees for athletic director and coaching positions, as well as an institutional intercollegiate athletics advisory committee. Previously, he was involved in the representation of professional athletes in team and individual sports during the 1980s and 1990s.
- He has been a member of the Sports Lawyers Association Board of Directors since 1997 and was the Chair of the Conference Planning Committee for the organization’s 2007 Annual Conference in Boston.
- Peter is a frequent lecturer and has written numerous law review articles regarding sports law topics. He is a co-author of “Sports Law: Cases and Materials,” one of the leading casebooks in the field now in its sixth edition.
- Peter has served on several committees of the American Bar Association Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar.
- Peter has participated in the law school accreditation process as a member of site evaluation teams, including several as chair of the teams.
